Knoxville, TN - Chad Speck, the agent for Jesse Mahelona, has announced that the Jesse Mahelona Trust has been established to help support Jesse's pregnant widow Brandee and the couple's infant daughter Karter. Mahelona, 26, was killed in an automobile accident on Saturday, September 5th in his native town of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

Mahelona played two years at the University of Tennessee after transferring from Orange Coast College in California. He was named a Sporting News All-American and All SEC after the Volunteers' 2004 campaign. Mahelona had a brief NFL career that included stops with the Tennessee Titans, Atlanta Falcons, Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars.

"He just loved life," Speck said remembering Mahelona. "He was always laughing and joking. I can't remember ever being around him when he wasn't happy."

Mahelona leaves behind his wife Brandee Kukita-Mahelona, who is pregnant with their second child, and his 18 month old daughter Karter.
